James Roger diary entries
14th August 1912
Muggy; wind south to west. David painting at No. 1 School House. Mother, Alice, and May jam making. Alice and the children went berry picking in the afternoon. I went golfing in forenoon with John Cummings who beat me 5 up on 15 holes, a very enjoyable game. Had tea at club house and got some apples from George Sargent. I filled lamps in Church and thinned a row of beets. Got present of a book of Bryant’s poems from Mr. Peacock. Got letter from Hamish and one from Cora Emmons saying she had a baby boy. Also George’s daughter Jessie had a baby.
20 cents supper at the Church tonight. The three claimants for Legislature are Mr. Lord, W. A. Preston, and E. L. Wheeler.
Looks like there were more cows in New Ipswich than people in 1930.
