Buttoning up our 50th year of making maple syrup. This year was short, but..sweet! When our oldest boy was in second grade, his teacher took the class on a field trip to her sugar house. He came home with a dream in his eyes and said. "I wanna do that." His dad told him to ask the lunch ladies at school to save him some big cans. He came home with three big cans. We rustled up some spouts and we were off! We boiled it down in a big canner on our wood range. AS the kids got older they built bigger and better accommodations and here we are today, With a cozy sugar house full of 50 years of sweet memories. Our grandchildren can run it now, and we have the great grands in training! We would like to thank all of you from far and near who have graced us with your presence and shared your hearts with us. It's a labor of love.

Fair with cool southwest to west wind; clouding to showers in evening. Mr. Lord preached from text: “What is Truth.” S.S. after. Ida Wheeler had Miss Lord’s class. I wrote to Jean Mair today. Mr. Walker is reported as being very low. Got 102 eggs.
Maple syrup from New Ipswich and 102 eggs. Makes me hungry.
I spent many cozy, cold days in that sugar shack with Lillie, Annie and Goob (and lots of the older brothers I was too young to know)! Thank you Mrs. Somero for some of my warmest childhood memories (and your sweet rolls and Nissu!!)! Xoxo, Angela Brown (Goss)
