Smallpox in New Ipswich
I have not seen any mention of smallpox in New Ipswich other than this news clipping and a passing mention that a smallpox cemetery existed near Brown’s Mill in Bank Village. But it is likely we had victims.
The town of Jaffrey, NH does has a smallpox cemetery.
James Roger diary entries
31st August 1912
Fair and growing warmer; wind southwest. David and Roger ploughed some rough ground at foot of the incubator field and David drove them (Roger and Stewart) to Depot for noon train to Ayer; afterwards harrowing and clearing brush. I picked 3 broilers and cleaned Hall for Finn Dance and Church service. Dance closed at 9:30. Few present. No letter from Hamish.
