William Jurian Kaula diary
29 JAN 1898
Our friend and general nuisance d'Orisy has struck a streak of luck - a commission for a bust and other work beyond. He has money now and it is a wonderful change that has come over his and he has actually the appearance of doing some work. No one has ever seen him at work and it was too much of an effort for him to even pose for his portrait by Glover. He has bought a new overcoat, hired a studio and bought furnishings, came in and treated us all to drinks in Creuset's and also dined there several times (which proves that he does eat in spite of previous evidence). I took dinner with Lee tonight and went to the Café Rouge.

Red Pine Farm - August 9, 2021
In 2021 Carl Toko and I went on a quest to find the remains of Red Pine Farm. Almost all vestiges are gone. However Carl found a metal pan.
On a subsequent visit, Dottie Perry pointed out her old metal swing set, the location of the well and the location of a foundation of a barn. The entire area is covered with a lush growth of Vinca minor. Hopefully it is never “developed”.
I suspect the tent next to Appleton was erected for the 150th celebration of New Ipswich in Aug of 1900.
Nice work Carl! I'm sure Dottie would like to have that bowl. I suspect the site will stay as it is since it is probably part of a parcel with a new home on it. It was near the beginning of High Range Rd, maybe 200 yd up on the right. That area is about developed as it's going to be. Glad that Dottie and NIHS found the site. Sad that it's gone. A similar fate occurred with the Reynolds house on River Rd. A nice old house built around a large chimney and burned down under suspicious circumstances in the 1940s.
