This cabin with screened porch was possibly owned by the Barr family. Guessing because the photo was in proximity to other photos of the Barr Estate. Location and date unknown as per usual.

Havanna [sic] is now blockaded by a fleet. Bombardment may not occur. The fleet has started in with real energy and a merchant steamer has been capture off Key West. Though war has not been declared the Spanish vessels will be liable to seizure. Spain has done nothing. Military enthusiasm is on the increase in America. A Proclamation of the blockade of Cuba has been issued by the President. There is no lack of excitement among the European Powers. It will be the first war between two nations who have considerable modern warships which have scarcely been tried elsewhere. The torpedo flotilla at Cape Verde causes much comment as its real capacity in success or failure depends much on the length of the war. Torpedo boats are untried craft. The French assert that they are to be the great feature of naval operations at sea. If this fleet reaches Cuba or the West Indies the chances of them doing much harm are in their favor. If our fleet can dispose of them before they can reach here and refit after the long voyage, it would paralyze the Spanish Navy.

James Roger diary entry
24th April 1909 (Saturday)
Cool windy day sunny. Dave went for grain from Greenville in forenoon, and went to Depot in afternoon to meet May and children. I got Hall ready for Finn dance tonight. Got letter from Hamish but none from Alice.
Looks like the cabin is getting an addition.
