Death of Charles E. Barrett
Charles E. Barrett, who died Tues-day, March 31, at his home in Winchester, Mass., aged 66 years, was a descendant of Humphrey Barrett of Devon, England, who settled in Concord, Mass., in 1640.
Mr. Barrett was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Augustus Barrett of New Ipswich and his youth was spent in his home, the Barrett mansion in his native town. He married Bulah Hildreth, daughter of the late Dr. J. L. Hildreth of Cambridge and Winchester, Mass., and New Ipswich.
Mr. Barrett had been for years a resident of Winchester. He organized the Middlesex County National bank in 1897 and it is now the Winchester Trust Co. He had been a member of the Winchester water board and a director of the Home for the Aged.
He leaves a widow; a daughter, Rebecca Barrett; a brother, George W. Barrett, and a sister, Mrs. George F. Williams.
The funeral services were held at the home in Winchester Thursday afternoon. Burial was at Mount Auburn cemetery.

James Roger diary entry
14th May 1913
Fair with northerly wind. David, Walter, and Henry Royce fixed fence for hen run and the posts round the garden. I raked a short time at John Preston’s, also a half an hour yesterday. Mother had a quiet night but feels weak and miserable today. David wrote to Alice to come right away and look after her. Got postcards from Buffalo. Mr. Lord brought a nice bouquet of pansies and cowslips for mother. Frank Hirck (Hyck?) working at Spoffords. Miss Barr telephoned that she was giving entertainment in Academy Hall on Memorial night instead of Town Hall.
Yes I believe this is my dear uncle Martin E M Somero, son of Frederick and Arline Somero, not to be confused with the equally dear Martin E Somero, a cousin whom we all called “Nick’s Martin,” as he was the son of Nicholas and Olga Somero.
Both great Americans. Francis was a neighbor and friend in Bank village. He was a guitar maker and a farmer, working with his brother Ernie who had 2 farms in Highbridge.
I remember a Martin Somero who installed our electric line in Bank village.
