Death of Charles L. Russell
Charles L. Russell died suddenly July 21. He left home about 8.30 o'clock to make hay on a field that he owned near the residence of Gardner G. Davis. When he did not return for dinner Mrs. Russell and her daughter, Miss Mildred Russell drove down to the field and found him lying dead. Apparently he had fallen off the mowing machine and death was instantaneous. He had not been well since the death of his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Huebell, two years ago.
Mr. Russell was the son of Lysander E and Emily (Pierce) Russell. He was born July 16, 1849, and had spent his entire life at the house where he was born. In 1886 he married Miss Eliza J. Davis, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Haskell) Davis of this town. To them four children were born, Carrie, who died in infancy; Frank, who died at the age of 19; Miss Mildred Russell, a graduate of the Fitchburg normal school, and Mrs. Gertrude Huebell, who died two years ago.
Mr. Russell was always interested in town affairs. He served for many years as a member of the board of selectmen.

Great photo of lumber delivery. Let’s hear it for the horses of New Ipswich, especially the work horses.
