December 11,1932
Charles Stone Wheeler.
Wheeler's sudden death occurred Sunday, December 11, following an attempt to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head.
The day before Mr. Wheeler appeared in good health and had visited local stores during the forenoon. At dinner time he suddenly procured a revolver and fired several shots, one of which lodged in his head and the others hit the ceiling of the kitchen. Ray Kivela, the hired man, and the housekeeper, Hazel Oikelmus, were present but unable to prevent the tragedy. He was rushed to the hospital and died Sunday morning. No reason for this sudden act has been given by friends or relatives.
Mr. Wheeler, who was but 34 years of age, was a large property owner and the adopted son of the late George San Wheeler.
Mr. Wheeler and Hazel Oikelmus were soon to be married and extensive repairs were being made to "Wheeler Farm" house and a new cow barn was nearing completion. Mr. Wheeler was a well known sportsman and hunter.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church, Rev. Stanley Holton officiating and Albert Lavery conducting. The church was filled with friends and relatives.
Mr. Wheeler's next of kin are the son and daughter of George San Wheeler's sister, Mrs. George Raymond of Oneitor, Florida, where the Wheelers spent many winters.
Burial was in the Wheeler lot at Center cemetery.

James Roger diary entry
25th May 1913
Fair with thunder shower at noon; wind variable and good sun heat. Mr. Lord preached. I was not at church nor S.S. [Sunday School]. Collection at S.S. 22 cents. Mother had a comfortable night and a good day.
Sad story. Was the farm on Wheeler Rd? I knew Dave Wheeler but not sure if he was related to Charles. Suicide can catch one off guard. I had a sister who attempted suicide and a brother who was successful. I've noticed recently more mental health ads on TV addressing the problem of suicide. Hopefully this will help.
