News Clipping 1910 - Coins Galore
Herbert W. Chandler, store-keeper in Smithville, paid his annual taxes to the tax-collector on Nov. 29, giving him $119.55 in Buffalo nickels, $11.85 in old fashioned nickels, $6.05 in Lincoln pennies. The aggregate of the bill was $137.45. Mr. Chandler brought a top buggy last spring and paid for it with Lincoln pennies. He also bought a sleigh later and paid for it with nickels. When he paid a bill to a West Rindge, N. H. gentleman, he carried him a two quart measure overflowing with Lincoln pennies.
James Roger diary entries
11th July 1912
Warm and southwest; some nice showers in afternoon and evening. David went to depot for Mrs. Parker’s furniture and unpacked it in afternoon. I weeded some in garden and picked 2 fowls. Got church ready for the Sewing Circle and Hall for Grange. Mr. Baum came and tuned Hall piano this afternoon. Got letter from Sandy who is not coming until Monday. Got letter from Janie also.
Looks like an older photo. There was a Charles Taylor who was the editor of the Boston Globe circa 1900.
