James Roger diary entry
4th June 1913
Fair, warm, and cloudy; wind variable. New moon at 2:57 P.m. David and Walter Hardy painting the cemetery fence. I sawed some wood, went to mail, picked fowl, and cut the lawn in front of the house. Mother more comfortable today. Got postcard from Buffalo..
It was most likely held in the house pictured. William A Preston, her half brother lived in the Bank
village house (built in 1742), a modest 8 rm house that burned down in 1968. He was married to Eva Davis Preston, sister of Lawrence Davis who was the husband of Marion Buck Davis. Eva moved into our house for 1 yr before going to a nursing home.
There are many Preston houses in and around New Ipswich, and some no longer exist.
