Death of Deacon Wilson
Deacon William Henry Wilson died Friday evening at his home, aged 87, after a long sickness. He was the son of John Steele Wilson, and Rebecca (Sanders) Wilson, who lived on Page hill for several years.
He was born Oct. 28, 1840, and married Nov. 1, 1860, to Irene Perkins of Temple, N. H., who died June 25, 1905. Mr. Wilson on April 2, 1907, married Nellie (Goss) Spaulding of Temple. She died a few years ago.
Mr. Wilson lived most of his life in this, his native town. He was deacon of the Baptist church for many years and a constant attendant until poor health prevented.
He served during the Civil war in the 13th New Hampshire regiment.
Deacon Wilson had no children. He leaves an adopted daughter, Mrs. Frank Hardy of this town; a sister, Mrs. Hannah (Wilson) Hardy, who lives in Jaffrey, and three half-brothers, Moses Wilson, Joseph Wilson and Peter Wilson.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church. The American Legion post had charge. Rev. Mr. Sibley of Amherst, a former pastor here, officiated. Burial was in the family lot at the center cemetery.
Congratulations
The New Ipswich Congregational Church met its fund raising goal and was able to pay off their mortgage. They held a celebratory luncheon and service for the community.
James Roger diary entry
16th April 1913
Fair, growing milder, wind variable from East to West. David helping Walter Hardy trimming trees in forenoon and teaming paint, etc. for Gordon from Depot in afternoon. I picked a fowl and did chores in brooder house. Got letter from May tonight saying they had bought a lunch cart and we're going to start business on their own hook (on their own). I do hope they will have good success service.
Congratulations to the Congregational church. So pleased for the congregation .
