Edward Wheeler was a resident of Smithville and served as the New Ipswich Chief of Police. James Roger mentions his name in his diary entries. The Society has a number of photos of Edward and members of his family.

Cool morning fine day. Mr. Peacock preached from text. We have toiled all day and caught nothing. I attended s.s. after 7 in class. C.E. Mr. Peacock leader topic: “Being a Christian”. A Finn woman gave a short address. A good attendance. Saw golden robin today. David walked to see E. Marshall about painting club house.

Peter and Bonny Jo Aho hosted their annual coffee and Nisu social at their home in Smithville before the start of the morning Memorial Day Parade.

Ed and Ida Wheeler lived in what is now Ollie Niemi's house. Mabel Livingston was their daughter.
