Whittemore Tavern
SOLOMON ESTERBROOKS kept Tavern in the house built by Col. Thomas Heald and later known as the John U. Davis place. This was built in 1777 and from about 1805 to 1820 was known as the Esterbrooks Tavern. There is some difference of opinion as to the house now standing there being the one built by Col. Heald. Mr. Joel Davis of Ashby, whose wife's mother was Sarah Ester- brooks, stated that both house and barn were rebuilt by Mr. Davis. This was a well known Tavern and was a favorite stopping place for drivers. No application for a Tavern license having been found after 1820 it is supposed to have ended as such at that time.
Thayer Family Albums
1938
The Thayer family has recently donated a number of photographs to the society. We endeavor to identify people, dates and locations of our photographs and many times the answers come from our readers.
In this case we have a date (1938) and a list of names. In this photo the men are Lionel Blais, Bill Moore, Alex McIntyre, Bob Likes and Elmer Patsky. Location is unknown.
Formulas
Stephen A. Thayer’s “One Hundred Formulas” was published in 1883. It contains recipes from everything from printing ink to pain killers. Before using collect some frog spawn for the sore, if that cannot be found look for an eye of a newt.
WARNING: Please don’t try any of these “remedies”, many contain ingredients which have been shown to be harmful.

Lionel Blais was my Supervisor when I worked at Tricnit in the early to mid 1970's . I enjoyed working for him, he taught me a great work ethic and was a pleasure to work for.
