Death of Eugene Proctor
Eugene Proctor died Sept. 15 in the hospital at Ayer of pneumonia. He was the son of Romeo and Marietta Perkins Proctor and was born July 8, 1852. He was married in 1874 to Carrie L. Foster, who was born in Whitehall, N. Y., Oct. 4, 1856. She died 17 years ago last May.
Mr. and Mrs. Proctor lived for many years in this town and to them seven children were born, but after the death of his wife he made his home in West Townsend with his son, Archie.
The survivors are the children, Elsie, who was married to Clinton Maxwell and lives in Townsend; Archie, who lives in Townsend; Lena A., who was married to Norman V. Tilton and lives in Ashby; Edward R. of Ayer; Alice L., who was married to Bert A. Robbins and lives in Raymond, N. H.; Martha U., who was married to George Stevens and also lives in Raymond, and Charles E. who lives in Minnesota.
Burial was in the family lot at Central cemetery and the Congregational minister from Ayer had charge of the services.

James Roger diary entry
3rd June 1913
Fair and warm; nice southwest wind. David and Walter Hardy painting the cemetery fence, and John Burton and David sprayed Mrs. Spofford's orchard. Mother had a restless night and wandering a little during the day but got better in afternoon. I split some wood and pumped water for Mrs. Knowlton, who did the washing. Got postcard from Hamish, who wrote it passing Batavia, [the] next station to Buffalo.
Nice old cape house!
I also thought it was part of the yard until my husband said that there is a road in front of the house and right away I thought maybe the Thompson home.
