William Jurian Kaula diary
1 MAR 1898
I am about through sitting for my portrait. Lee had Amon-Jean come and critize [sic] them and he liked the one of me very much - even farm more than he did of the one of Miss Burnet. Almost any of the best French painters will go to a student's studio and criticize their work for a small fee. Amon-Jean charges more than some, his price being fifty-francs a visit and for each person. Some artists will go and see the work of their pupils for nothing because they are interested - like Constant and Laurens went to Kronberg's studio to see his picture.
