Thank You students of 1915
I discovered this poem in a notebook from the New Ipswich Historical Society. It hints at a fund raiser that the Appleton Academy students held for the benefit of the Historical Society. Perhaps we’ll uncover additional information about the event. The Society is always grateful to receive donations, even those given in 1915.
Dated August 18, 1915
The Days of the Week "At Home" will be On Thursday next, in Academy Hall. The place is New Ipswich. Come to see What a cordial welcome awaits you all. To aid the Society Historique, (Excuse our French- for the sake of rhyme,) We offer supplies for the work of the week. From three to six, the appointed time. We wash and iron, we sweep and brew. Our cooks you ne'er saw surpassed no never. Our ice-cream and candies, needlework too, will be things of beauty and joys forever. The day, we repeat, will be Thursday next. Admittance free. Tis but fair to say, Lest you make a mistake and are thereby vexed, You will need your purse ere you go away. On Thursday, August 18, 1915.

What constitutes pickerel bait?
Shifting ashes? I assume that this means putting ashes through a screen to retrieve the carbon chunks.
