A number of readers identified this house posted yesterday as the “Balch House” located on Turnpike Road in the Historic District.
Reader Lisa Veilleux provided this photo from 1909 (with porch and dormers).
In the collection we have several photos of the Hammond-Isaac-Balch House.
Including a much earlier photo which I believe is one of Balch.

William Jurian Kaula diary

I finished my short term at Viti's academy and am glad to get out of the school. I always get into the common ruts after I get back in the schools inside of two weeks. Glover is packing up his effects as he expects to return to Boston very soon. That will leave Logan without a mate and he does not know whether to hire a new studio or not. The one that they have at present suits every need except that the sun enters in the morning during the spring and summer. It is the same fault with studios all over Paris - they are put in buildings without regard to the direction of the sunlight and old carpenter shops are turned into paying studios.

James Roger diary entry
11th (Thursday)
Frost 8 degrees wind NW to West, fine day but gusty, high winds during the night. David choring round went to mail in forenoon and to Lonie’s in afternoon. I swept Hall for Grange tonight and went to mail in afternoon.
Yes, the chimney is a deal breaker
I remember seeing this house 50+ yrs ago. It's the type of house you'd find in Smithville. It's a classic center chimney house. It can't be the Hammond-Isaacs-House, the latter has two chimneys.
