Death of Henry B. Stowell.
Henry B. Stowell, the owner of a large residence and fine estate at the north part of the town, died Nov. 15, at his city home, 10 Regent circle, Brookline. He was here Nov. 7, and stated that he would not probably come up again this autumn. He belonged to the firm of J. B. Stowell & Son. He was 48 years old and was. born in Roxbury, Mass., the son of John B. and Ann D. Stowell. His father was a Boston stockbroker. Since 1890 he had been a member of the Boston Stock Exchange. For several years his health had been frail. He is survived by his mother and Mrs. Stowell, who was Miss Florence Wilson.
Mr. Stowell was a genial gentleman with original ideas and had, many friends. His guests were many, and he lavished his friends with auto rides within a radius of 50 miles. He was accustomed to ride 100 miles a day. or upwards in the summer time in his car. He visited all the hotels of note in the vicinity. sampled the menus and was a pronounced epicure. His great hobby was good auto roads, and he, was constantly agitating this topic amongst his retinue of friends.
His sudden passing will be a great loss to the town which he loved so much.

James Roger diary entry
13th February 1913
Keen frost; wind west. David drawing ice for Flushing from Preston Camp on the Souhegan. I took leaves and hay to hen house and fixed Hall for Grange. Mr. Thompson called about a text, Mark 4: 26-27. I went to mail. Grange closed 11:10 p.m.
The Preston camp was on the shore of Waterloom Pond off River Rd on land now owned by Ollie Niemi.
Another obit of a good and successful resident of NI. It seems like many of the notable residents 2of NI lived there only in the summer. My cousin Ollie once owned a lot of land on Stowell Rd . I'm wondering if Henry lived on Stowell Rd. The Gibson house in today's photo has the 'number 10' in the caption, so was it in the center village? I would have guessed it was at Gibson Village.
