Jowders Homestead

James Roger diary entry
8th June 1912
Slight frost in meadow in the morning; fine day; wind gone to west. David harrowing corn ground in forenoon and took team of furniture from Ames and Spoffords for Perry to the Dodd Place in the afternoon. I picked a fowl and cut lots all day. Got letter from Hamish who has been to New York and Oakdale. Got letter from Alice.
This is the home I grew up in.. M y grandparents, Lars and Rose Somero, bought it the early 1900s. It was a dairy farm. After John died my Mummu sold it to my parents, Walter and Dorothea Somero, and they also operated Somero's Dairy Farm. In 1960 they sold the farm to Dave and Mary Corliss. The Corliss's sold it to Steve Riggs. It was one of the first taverns in New Ipswich. On the corner of Greenville and Temple Road.
Thank you Bill Niemi for the information. I did know my grandparents bought the farm from Mr Thayer. I have the bill of sale.
