Home Wedding - December 25, 1901
Larrabee-Roger. A pleasant home wedding took place on Christmas day, at the residence of James Roger, the contracting parties being Berkley T. Larrabee of Greenville, N. H., and Miss Maria Roger of this town. Mr. Larrabee is one of our premising young men, having made his home here for a number of years, and, at one time, was a student at Appleton academy. Miss Roger came from Scot- land, five years ago, with her parents, and has made many friends, being es- teemed by all who know her. Mr. and Mrs. Larrabee will make their home in Greenville. They have the hearty good wishes of their many friends in their new home.
The “Bonnie Brae” House
I have this listed as the home of Ralph Parker but I wonder if this was also the residence of James Roger and may have been the location of the wedding in 1901.
Formulas
Stephen A. Thayer’s “One Hundred Formulas” was published in 1883. It contains recipes from everything from printing ink to pain killers. This one will sell at every house.
WARNING: Please don’t try any of these “remedies”, many contain ingredients which have been shown to be harmful.
James Roger diary entry
November 30th 1908 (Monday)
Very fine day wind variable. Wind W to S.E. Slight drizzle in forenoon. David brought grit from hen houses and seeded down the plot in orchard. I walked to Golf House and brought ladle and my clubs home. And put grit in brooder house. Picked rocks and corn roots of seeded plot. Got letter from Hamish.
So nice to read about a wedding after reading the many obituary notices. I loved the property at Bonnie Brae when I was a kid. My aunt and uncle, Judith and Clemens Rauhala, lived there for awhile. I would have been overjoyed to take their place. If James Roger lived there, where might the Golf House have been to which he said he walked?
