New Ipswich 1939 NEW IPSWICH, June 21.-Lester E. Smith died June 21 in his 81st year at the home of his son, Lester E. Smith, Jr., Mr. Smith was born in Ellsworth, Me., and was a fisherman and for 10 years sailed to foreign lands. After his marriage to Jeanette Frasier, he settled in Portland. He is survived by his wife; a sister, Endora Garland of Ellsworth, Me.; and three children, Mrs. Lillian Bailey of Rumford, Me., Lester E. Smith, Jr., principal of Appleton academy, and Mrs. John Trainovitch of Brighton. The funeral will be at the home and will be private. Friends are requested not to send flowers. Burial will be in New Ipswich.

Fair and warm; wind westerly. David at Store. I picked a chicken for Mr. Lowe. Been in the empty house all day alone, cooking, etc. Also put wire on brooder house and door, and pulled pea sticks up in garden. Grange tonight closed 11:45 p.m.
