Dear Brother,
I received a letter from you some time since, but neglected to answer for no particular reason, only neglect. I was very glad to hear from you & appreciate your sympathy for my misfortune, also thank you for the advice & good wishes for my welfare, your appreciation however of the loss of energy an act of trou (?) you can dispel for I am well aware that I should suffer the more severe by allowing such desponding to take possession of my mind. I am far from it & if my health continues good, shall recover my financial condition, but my wife & child & all my domestic comforts have gone forever & no worldly goods can ever replace them. This letter will be short & if my life is spared, it is my intension to see you in the spring. I am going to W. Haven soon & shall most likely visit you all as it may be the last opportunity for some time.
You will address me 15 Bowery where my place of business is & give my love to all.

James Roger diary entry
17th February 1913 - (more olive oil)
Frosty; fair; wind northwest. David, Daniel Knowlton, Royce & W. Hardy getting in our ice today. I took another tablespoonful of olive oil today; went to mail; got papers and Chambers Journal from Roslin.
Was Wilder Village named for CR Wilder? Do we know who his brother was?
