Marion Davis Audio-Tape Transcriptions
Sometime before her death in 1986, Marion Davis recorded her memories at the encouragement of her brother, Walter Buck. The recordings were transcribed by a secretary.
The Friends of Wapack have made these available to the Historical Society. Marion was born on February 8, 1894 in Fitchburg, MA.
Broken Bones and Banquets
We. had many little experiences. We had a young group come one time and a girl was skiing out on the side hill where we generally pick blueberries in the summer. She fell and broke a bone in her arm. Dr. Kaywood came up and said she had a bone in her arm that should be looked a when she got home. She did have a splintered bone just above the elbow. She had quite a time with it.
We had quite a few parties; also we catered to groups coming up just for banquets--even in the winter--turkey banquets and so forth.

I believe this is Al Jenks clearing the driveway at Windblown. Undated photo.
James Roger diary entry
22nd January 1913
Hard frost; fine day; wind westerly. David went to Boston per noon train (Walter Hardy drove him down) to see the play of “Bunty Pulls the String” at the Majestic Theatre and to see the drama of “Disraeli” tomorrow afternoon at the __________ [left blank] Theatre. He prepared all the meat for cattle, etc. and helped me with the settees out the Hall. I filled lamps and swept Hall for the dance tonight. There were not very many at the dance; not enough to meet expenses. Closed about 1:10, and afterwards E. Wheeler and Albro Balch put up the tables for the Grange installation, and had a feed of ice cream. Closed Hall at 1:40
"Kaywood". That's how we pronounced Cayward. Dr. Cayward stitched me up a couple times.
John, I believe that photo is Sulo Kolapacka on his front end bucket crawler clearing Marion"s driveway.
