James Roger diary entry
25th (Thursday)
Dry and windy not much rain during the night. David and Mother went to Club House and fixed up the house. He then hoed potatoes. I fixed up some perches in the brooder house and filled lamps in Hall for Grange tonight. Also put in some manure in garden ready for cabbage. Lougee telephoned about some stray cattle at his place supposed to belong to Mr. Huckins 16 at Grange.

William Jurian Kaula diary - hot weather
For the past two days we have been suffering tortures from the exceedingly hot weather. I have made repeated efforts to work but in each case the result was so unsatisfactory as to make me more miserable. Cartwright will probably join us here soon. The celebration of the Queen's Jubilee in England has bored him. Our friend Wright, he says, has returned to America (he will be missed by a precious few) and Kronberg is on his way to Algeria where he will paint a picture for Mr. Ernest Longfellow - the one that pays for the scholarship that Kronberg enjoys at present.
Note: a jubilee is a special celebration of a King or Queen's reign. Per The Royal Mint Museum, the events include fetes, feasts, fireworks, and processions. Queen Elizabeth was honored this year with a Platinum Jubilee signifying 70 years of reign. 25 years = silver, 50 = gold, 60 = diamond, 65 = sapphire.

Join Kim Black & Carl Toko at Center Village Cemetery for a hands-on workshop, where they will clean the headstones in the Stearn’s family plot.
Parking is available adjacent to the cemetery on Main Street.
The Homestead Inn was such a lovely building. New Ipswich was truly a lovely New England town in its buildings in the past.
