William Jurian Kaula diary
6 JAN 1898
The American Art store is conducted by the Club and supported financially by John Wannamaker. Its object is to sell materials and the art photographs at nearly cost to the members. Others can obtain things much cheaper than elsewhere. The management leaves much to be desired as the store has been opened months without any stock but photographs. This might be expected of a French store but under the management of Americans we expect something of a more active nature which will savor of American enterprise. It is near the Club on the Quai.
