March 7, 1932
Relatives and friends have received word of the sudden death in St. Augustine, Fla., March 7, of Mary Miller Higbee.
Miss Higbee was born in Salem, Mass., May 22, 1873, the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Miller Higbee. She was a great-granddaughter of Gen. Miller of Revolutionary war fame, whose family home was in Temple, N. H. She had made her home for many years with her mother, Mrs. Charles S. Brown, in New Ipswich, N. H., and Brookline, Mass.
She was particularly interested in and identified with the Souhegan Country club of New Ipswich, N. H., and with many of the social and other activities of the town.
Services were held at her late home in New Ipswich Saturday, March 12, and burial was in the New Ipswich cemetery.
Miss Higbee is survived by a half- brother, Philip Miller Brown of Essex Fells, N. J.

James Roger diary entry
21st May 1913
Fair and cloudy; after threatening rain a few drops fell; wind west to east. David painting at Jim Davis’. Miss Fanny Barr telephoned for me to call; had some questions about the Sanders’ lot in the cemetery. I did not feel well greater part of day. Mother had a good night. David got up at 4:30 a.m. and made her a cup of tea; she is really better but weak. Got p.c. [postcard] from Hamish. I fixed up the henhouse windows and broke up some firewood in afternoon.
What was the Souhegan Country Club of New Ipswich, mentioned in the obit?
Great photos of Memorial Day 2024.
I had a neighbor here in Brunswick, NY named Barbara Higbee, also a good friend and neighbor named Burt Miller, both passed away years ago. Not sure if they're related. I enjoyed seeing old friends in NI this past weekend. Impressive celebration for a small town.
