James Roger diary entry

Dull, cloudy, fair and mild, wind variable. David working about Gordons’ and went for coal in afternoon for Gordons. I picked rooster and took 48 chicks out incubator. Got letter from May last night. Mother still keeping better.
Wow, that house standing cheek-by-jowl to the old town hall! That spot is where they set up the white elephant tent for the fair when the hall became inhabitable. The classic ladies of the Town like Helen Emma would run the elephant thing and dole out fabulous memories and sage advice amid all the purveying of curios and bric-a-brac. I sure miss the New Ipswich ladies of the greatest generation.
I meant uninhabitable. AI got me again.
