“She was so healthy that any insurance company would have accepted her risk.”
Death of Miss Susan Morehead Brown
Miss Susan M. Brown, a daughter of Charles Severance and Frances (Partridge) Brown, passed away Sun- day, Nov. 5, at her city home. She was born here Jan. 1, 1885, and secured her education at the public schools of this town and at Appleton academy,
Miss Brown was thoroughly cultured in music and had won an enviable reputation as a public singer in churches as well as concert halls, Her father had spared no pains to secure the best musical instruction and she was a faithful devotee to her chosen art. She was a member of the Musical Art club of Boston, Since an attack of scarlet fever a few years ago her strong physique had shown signs of physical decline. Prior to this she was so healthy that any insurance company would have accepted her risk.
She possessed a charming personality, was popular and won many friends. Only a short time ago she went to Brookline to her winter home. Miss Brown was a member of the Church of the New Jerusalem in Boston, and had done much church work.
Her funeral was held at noon Tuesday in the chapel at Mt. Auburn cemetery where the interment was in the Brown family lot. The services were conducted by the Rev. H. Clinton Hay, pastor of the Church of the New Jerusalem, assisted by Rev. Dr. Worcester of Cambridge, in the choir of whose church Miss Brown sang.
The survivors are her father. Charles S. Brown, stepmother and two brothers Albert E. Brown of Hartford, Conn., and Philip Miller Brown of Boston. There was a profusion of flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur L. Phelps and Mrs. Lena Preston of this town attended the funeral.

I commend John for finding that photo to accompany Susan's obit. How did these women get to the top of Watatic in those dresses?
