William Jurian Kaula diary
I have a very good collection of souvenir photographs of Crécy and many of our various celebrations. We print and tone the pictures during our spare moments. A small room on the ground floor has been converted into an excellent darkroom where we develop the negatives on rainy evenings. I tried to devise a new and effective method of washing prints by putting them in a bowl and sinking it in the moat. All went well until the water was turned on in the moat as it is often done to raise it to a higher level. During my absence the catrostrope [catastrophe] happened and when I went after the bowl the current had washed them all out and I could see by the various white spots at different intervals along the bottom that most of my photographs were about beyond recovery. A little girl who had brains equal to the occasion produced a rake and a rescuing party was organized and after much fishing from the bridges and washhouses we managed to save most of them.

I found this catalog while sifting through a filing cabinet. Attar was in business for over 30 years.
