James Roger diary entry
26th August 1913
Clear and warm; wind variable. David at Store. Alice and I went to Greenville in forenoon and I cut some lots after.
Reading Alice Harry’s obituary, who was educated at Appleton, reminded me of the accounts of reunions at Appleton, which mention only men in attendance and also being chosen for various offices. I suppose that was typical for that time, and makes granting women the right to vote later on even more amazing, since they weren’t worth including in the reunions.
