James Roger diary entry
12th May 1913
Fair and warmer; wind westerly. David about Spoffords most of the day with Farrar, etc. He went to Greenville with sample of our water for analysis. Brought potatoes (early), onion sets, and peas for garden. David called up Farrar on telephone to come to Spoffords. Mother better today and taking nourishment. Got postcard from Ayer; all well. I wheeled in a cord of wood into Church this afternoon. Mother had a bad turn at night, sick and vomiting till after midnight.
Wonder how long it took to wheel a cord of wood into the church and where it was stored in the building. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
I remember Oscar Somero driving the road grader past our house when River Rd was a dirt road.
