James Roger diary entry
26th May 1913
Fair wind, variable. David took horses to Barretts’ to [for] Henry Royce, who was to spray the trees. W. Hardy helping him. David afterwards at Spoffords’, planting flowers, etc. Mother had a real good day after a very restful night. Got letter from Hh [Hamish] from Buffalo telling about offer from Express Co. of $82.50 and more soon, which mother and I both thought he should accept and I wrote him so. Also postcard from May saying she would be here on Wednesday. I trimmed and cut lots in cemetery.
Wonder what Hamish was doing in Buffalo. It's a long way from NI even today, and longer 100 years ago.
