James Roger diary entry
The beginning of the New Ipswich Historical Society
I wonder if James Roger would ever envision that his diary entries would be featured by the Historical Society he helped to establish.
18th March 1913
Frost, 16 degrees, wind west and cold. David went for grain and oatmeal in forenoon and went in afternoon to help Daniel Maynard move his hens and other things to his farm. He has gone there today for good. I broke up some old wood in the forenoon and split a little in the afternoon. Mrs. Jones telephoned for account of Church meeting yesterday and Miss Lee telephoned asking me to attend a meeting of the proposed Historical Society in the Library at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Got a letter today returned from Albany, which I sent Hamish on 28th Feb’y; also letters from Hamish and Mary Mair, also from Mr. Zolman in Lynn about Bushby Legacy and the lot in the cemetery. Saw W. Thayer about it and wrote reply. Got letter at night from May and Uncle Bob at Chapinville.
