James Roger diary entry
31st March 1913
Rainy day but mild wind southeast to west. David choring round and went in afternoon to meet Jessie and Kenneth who came to Ayer yesterday. I lit up another incubator. Mother did not sleep well last night and we called in Dr. Jones in forenoon who gave her some medicine and is going to prepare a tonic. David went downtown and got some malted milk, which she enjoyed for supper. Pierrpoint [sic] Morgan died at Rome today. (There is no discharge in that war.)
John Pierpont Morgan (April 17, 1837 – March 31, 1913)[1] was an American financier and investment banker who dominated corporate finance on Wall Street throughout the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. As the head of the banking firm that ultimately became known as J.P. Morgan and Co., he was a driving personal force behind the wave of industrial consolidations in the United States at the turn of the twentieth century. - Source Wikipedia
My Name is Morgan but it ain’t J.P.
I knew a Bill Stiles, not sure if he is the one mentioned. Again I see connections between the well established families: the Prestons, The Fryes, the Ashleys, and the Stiles. Nice photo of the old mill in Bank Village.
