James Roger diary entry
10th April 1913
Frost, 10 degrees, fine day, good sun heat. David at Browns' trimming trees. Mother feeling better today. I picked chicken and swept Hall, etc. for Grange tonight; went to Greenville (first time this winter) for box from John Stewart (Bayshore) with good many things for Mother: tea, coffee, fish—fresh and tinned, crackers, and port wine. Had ride in Mr. Lord’s auto from post office.
Wonder why Lizzie looks like she had a black eye.
