Death of Mrs, Persis Hardy
The funeral of Persis Hardy, who died March 3 at Peterboro hospital following a brief illness, took place Saturday afternoon in the Congregational church, Rev. Edward Clapp officiated.
Relatives present included Mrs. Mary Hayward, Mrs. Hattie Mazza, Charles Hayward, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hayward of Winchendon, Will and Earl Hardy of Ashby, Frank Hardy of New Ipswich, Miss Ruth Hardy of Brookline, Mrs. Nellie Mansfield and Miss Ethel Mansfield of Spencer, Mrs. Lester Bachelder of Wilton and Leon Hardy and Mrs. Ethel Snell of Fitchburg.
Burial was in the Central cemetery. The bearers were Daniel Maynard, David Roger, Wilmore Ashley, Albro Balch, Robert Walker and Edward R. Wheeler.
Mrs. Hardy was born in Temple, N. H., July 29. 1890, daughter of Mary L. (Thorning) Hayward and the late Walter E. Hayward. She attended Appleton academy here and was graduated in 1910. She returned to town to be postmistress. In 1914 she was married to Walter Hardy. She was a president of the Parent-Teacher association, member of the school board six years, church treasurer and belonged to the historical society and the Greenville Woman's club.
She leaves her husband, Walter E. Hardy, and daughter, Ina Dicker- man Hardy; her mother, Mrs. Wal- ter Hayward of Temple; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Mazza of Temple; a brother, Charles Hayward of Slingerlands, N. Y.; three nieces and three nephews, and two uncles, Henry Hayward of Winchendon and Chester Hayward of Charleston, W. Va

Fair and cool; wind variable. David at Store. I picked four fowls and took children to Depot. Got Hall ready for Club Dance tonight. Got letter from Sandy today, also from Hamish at night. Dance closed at 1 a.m. Nice shower began about midnight. Mr. Lord called this morning about admission of Laura Knowlton as a member of church.
