NEW IPSWICH
Death of Myron Taylor 29
Myron Taylor, who had been a resident of Arlington, Mass., 52 years, died at his late home Jan. 24 following a brief illness.
He was born July 31, 1846, in New Ipswich, the son of Charles and Harriet Weston Taylor. On Oct. 7, 1869, he married Elizabeth Crosby in Nashua, N. H., and they went to Arlington to make their home in 1877.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor identified themselves with the Orthodox Congregational church. Mr. Taylor became active in all the church interests and the Sunday school, where he served two terms as superintendent. He had been for 40 years deacon, and held the office of clerk of the church.
For many years Mr. Taylor was connected with the old Boston & Lowell railroad. When that road was merged with the Boston & Maine he was made real estate agent of the Boston & Maine. He retired from this work in 1912.
He became town treasurer in 1909, and served until 1920, when he gave up all active business duties. Mr. Taylor also had real estate holdings in New Ipswich, where he recently built a summer home. He was a trustee of Appleton academy.
The funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 27. from the house. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Edward. Allen Morris, pastor of the church. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery, Arlington.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, to whom he had been married 59 years last October, a daughter and three sons. They are Mrs. A. C. Eagleson of Watertown, Mass., C. Ralph Taylor of West Roxbury, Prof. Warren C. Taylor of Union college, Schenectady, N. Y., and Philip W. Taylor of Wellesley Farms. There are six granddaughters, Gracia and Esther Eagleson, Sylvia, daughter of Ralph Taylor, Elizabeth, daughter of Prof. Taylor, and Marjorie and Barbara, daughter of Philip W. Taylor. The flag was flown at half-mast at the town hall park out of respect for Mr. Taylor.

James Roger diary entry
29th April 1913
Raw with east wind end drizzle. Mother is not feeling so bright but holding her own. David choring round whitewashing at Lowes’ and Spoffords’. Got telegram at 9:40 a.m. saying that Captain Cochrane had died this morning. Got letter from Hamish and p.c. from Alice.
The photograph makes one wonder what happened that day. Were they back from Arlington for the summer? Why the Ober house when there was a Taylor house? It looks they just got off the train with their trunks.
