Another mystery road to identify. Maybe the topology might be of some help.

William Jurian Kaula diary
19 MAR 1898
Some friends of the Dearth's arrived this afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Howland.* They are both jolly people and made things merry. Mr. and Mrs. Dearth are a very quiet couple and seldom indulge in jokes. I have been so prim and careful about what I say to them as the few jests that I tried utterly failed to make an impression. It is against my nature to be always sedate and serious, so the arrival of these two people enlivened us up considerably.
*Could this be Louis Howland the journalist and author of the late 1800s/early 1900s?

James Roger diary entry
19th (Friday)
Frosty, wind north west to west. Warming up during day, snow melting and roads muddy. David took democrat wagon apart to paint. Mr. Bucknam took him in afternoon to help dig a grave for Mr. Greenman who died last night. Got pc from Hamish. There has been changes in night shift. Byron resigned and Shea installed in his place.
Note: A “democrat wagon” is a light farm wagon or ranch wagon that has two or more seats and is usually drawn by two horses.
In Kaula's journa,l Dearth is Henry Golden Dearth, a well-known landscape painter from Long Island.
At first glance it looks like the house on the east side of Ashby Road just as you come into New Ipswich as you cross New Hampshire state line from Massachusetts. The view looks something what it looked like in the 1960's except that there is now a paved road.
