Frank J. McLaughlin Obituary - 1913
One of the “Lucky Seven”
Passed away last Friday forenoon at his home on Grove street, after an illness of about two years, although he had been able to be about and work a portion of the time. Death was due to angina pectoris, caused by lead poison. He was a native of New Ipswich, where he was born July 10, 1859. He came to this town about twenty years ago, being employed at that time in the old Briggs piano stool shop on the road to the West Village. A number of years ago, he took up house painting and papering, and had for the past eight years conducted a business for himself. He was married June 1, 1908 to Anna J. Balch of New Ipswich, who survives him. The deceased was a past grand of Peterborough Lodge, No. 15, Ι. Ο. Ο. F., also a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Aquarius Veteran Firemen's association, Hose Company No. 1, an associate member of Aaron F. Stevens Post 6, G. A. R., and one of the "Lucky Seven," of which odd number his death was the third within a period of nine months. He had also been on the police force for a number of years. He was a man pleasant to meet, always a smile for everyone, and to know him was to have a friend. He was a man without an enemy. Funeral services were held from his late home Sunday afternoon, which were largely attended by the Odd Fellows, Rebekahs, and Firemen, who were present in bodies, besides a large circle of neighbors and friends. Rev. Mr. Elberfeld officiated. The Odd Fellows' burial service was given at the grave in Pine Hill cemetery. There was abundance of floral tributes, signifying mutely the esteem in which the deceased was held.
