William Jurian Kaula diary
I slept in Logan's bed in Glover's studio last evening and allowed Cartwright to use his own bed which was too cold for me. All the second-hand beds that I have seen are much too short for me. I inquired the prices of new couches and found a dealer who would make one two metres long with a mattress to fit at his usual price. The price of the bed is seventeen francs, the matrass [sic] fourteen francs, a blanket...(remaining sentence cut off). In making these purchases I followed the advice of Miss Shuttleworth as I did not know anything about the cost of these things and besides I wanted a comfortable bed if I slept in a barn. At the Bon Marche I purchased the sheets and pillow cases. The sheets cost eighteen francs for three - not wide ones and a franc each for two pillow cases.
