Buys Ashby Shop
Robert B. Walker has bought the Wilder turning shop in South Ashby and will conduct the business just the same as it has been run in the past, turning small articles like balls and checkers, and with the same employees.
The business will be conducted under the same name as in New Ipswich, the A. F. Walker & Son Turning Shop. Robert B. Walker will superintend the work at the Ashby turning shop and plans to be there each day. D. A. Beattie, from Vermont, will superintend the work at the A. F. Walker & Son turning shop in New Ipswich and attend to orders and shipments. There are at the present time 26 men at work. D. A. Beattie has hired Daniel Maynard's house on Main Street and his wife and two children will come later to reside in town.
James Roger diary entries
24th July 1912
Cold morning; wind northwest; fair and dry. David cut Hardys’ and Maynards’ grass in forenoon and fixing Spoffords’ windmill. Took parts to Chandler. I weeded in garden. Sale of Ladies’ work in Vestry today with ice cream, candy & supper. Mrs. Obear called today, also Principal Lewis.
If this is in New Ipswich then it's most likely a photo of the Souhegan as it enters Waterloom Pond. My question is: What or why was this picture taken? Was it to show a nice spot to build a cabin? The gentle sloping land on the right side looks the parcel that once had a cabin (now just a foundation hole).
