Comments on pastel drawing by Dottie Perry:
“Red Pines. Where High Range Rd goes through now. Pastel pic was done by my great aunt Ruth Spencer. Porch was taken off in the 40s, I believe. House was a way station serving the stagecoach road that passed behind it. I'm double checking with my uncle, but I believe it was built in either 1760 or 1780. Succumbed to an arsonist.”

Black and white photo is from the back. Left additions - larger woodshed, small outhouse (2 holer). Right addition was the library/ study. . Pastel pic was done by my great aunt Ruth Spencer. Porch was taken off in the 40s, I believe. House was a way station serving the stagecoach road that passed behind it. I'm double checking with my uncle, but I believe it was built in either 1760 or 1780. Succumbed to an arsonist.
This appears to be Chauncey Perry and Cindy behind a woodpile. I wonder what that galvanized thing is on the trash can.

William Jurian Kaula diary
25 JAN 1898
Never has my time been so occupied before in Paris. I keep the most regular hours for eating and sleeping and scarcely vary from day to day. I am on hand to begin work promptly at nine, stop at twelve, and at one o'clock I am ready to work or pose until shortly after four when the daylight fades. After that I usually take a walk until six when I go to Creuset's for dinner, except on Saturdays when I dine with Lee. Creuset's is too far away at noon so I drop into the Rougerie on the Boulevard Raspail which is nearby. The place is labeled with the sign of an "International Restaurant" but as for quality of food it leaves much to be desired. There are a number of regular frequenters - a few fellows who sit together at one table under the dignified name of the "Hot Stuff Club." Hot Stuff is the best name for that beverage called coffee in this place. The crowd here are composed of a few Scotchmen, a couple of Englishmen, a few Americans, and Miss Clara McChesney who likes to be with the "boys."
