Rev. George J. Prescott Dead
Rev. George Jarvis Prescott died Dec. 27 at his home, Riverbank Court, Cambridge, in his 82nd year. For more than 40 years he and his family have spent the summers at his summer residence in this town and he officiated at a large number of weddings and funerals of the residents.
His first wife was Miss Caroline Miller, daughter of Commodore James F. Miller, U. S. N., of this town. They had one daughter, Ruth, now Mrs. Frank Jenkins of New York City. Before his retirement two years ago he served as rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Boston, consecutively for 51 years and had thereby established a record for continuous service in the diocese of Massachusetts. He acted as chaplain of the McLean hospital, Waverly, for 53 years and was chaplain in several Masonic organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Lucile C. Prescott, and three children, William French Prescott and Mrs. Frank Jenkins of New York City and Mrs.
Richard Lawrence of Groton. The funeral was held Sunday, Dec. 23, at the Church of the Good Shepherd. William A. Preston and Herbert F. Preston attended the services.

Fair with cool north wind veering to west. Stage driver Whitney forgot to call for Mrs. Gordon and Bertha Holman for first time. David telephoned Robert Walker who took them in his auto. David painting at Gordons’ also with Farrar at Spoffords’. Dan Maynard brought 1 bag corn and 1 bag oats from grain mill this morning. Got letter from Jean from Albany. I fixed vestry for Sewing Circle; also Hall for dance tonight. Mother had an uncomfortable night but feeling better today, only fatigued, and retired early. I wrote to Jessie, Alice, May, and Hamish.
Toivo O Madison. Half Finn, half Yankee?
Toivo Madison was born in 1918 and attended school in New Ipswich. He was in the same class as Leo Hill and Ralph Kangas.
