RETIRED MINISTER CALLED BY DEATH
NEW IPSWICH
John E. Bowman, 67, former pastor of the Congregational church, died last night in the Peterborough hospital following an illness of three months. He had been suffering from diabetes.
Rev. Mr. Bowman was pastor of the Congregational church in this town from 1914 to 1923, retiring to do historical research work. He spent most of his time getting together data on Revolutionary, Civil and World war soldiers, working with different historical associations in New England states. He was the author of several church histories for small towns.
Rev. Mr. Bowman was born in Taunton, Mass., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ebenezer Bowman. He was graduated from Boston university in 1889 with a Liberal Arts degree and from the Boston University seminary in 1893. Following his graduation, he held several pastorates in Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. He was a member of the Masonic orders and the grange.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, at the 'New Ipswich Congregational church at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Taunton, Mass.

Fair and warm. David finished painting cemetery fence. I was in mother’s room all day. She suffered a great deal.
Looks like the house down the street from the Historical Society. Interesting double path in the snow (wagon wheel path?).
