Death and Funeral of Rev. William R. Thompson's funeral was held here on March 2, in the afternoon, at the Baptist church. He was an inmate of the Nugent Home in Philadelphia where he passed away.
He was born March 13, 1837, in South Parsonfield, Maine, and belonged to a family of ten children. He studied theology at the Newton, Mass., Theological school. He was ordained Aug. 7, 1868, at Milford, Mass. He was in active service over 30 years and since then has supplied pulpits as opportunity offered.
He conducted pastorates in Brighton, Mass., from 1868-71; Fayville, Mass., 1874-77; West Townsend, 1877-80: New Ipswich, 1880-87; Mr. Thompson supplied the Methodist church in this town from 1888-94 and since then as occasion demanded he responded to the call of churches. In 1897 he was representative to the general court. He had been a member of the school board and also of the Stearns Lecture commission.
Mr. Thompson was twice married. His first wife was Miss Dora S. MacGrath; the second, Mrs. Sarah J. Marshall..
