Sulo Ylonen, 58, of Poor Farm Rd., was killed by his own car Saturday afternoon at the New Ipswich dump. According to witnesses, Mr. Ylonen was investigating a problem under the hood of his car when it popped into gear, knocking him down and dragging him 159 feet. Mike Brady of Timbertop Rd. heard the scream and saw the car moving, ran after it and stopped the car. He told police that the gas pedal was held down with a stick. Police, members of the Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service, and medical referee Dr. Robert Bailey were called to the scene. Dr. Bailey ruled the death due to head and chest injuries. Mr. Ylonen, born in Ludlow, Vt.. was a veteran of World War II; he served with the Army in the Pacific. He lived most of his life here. He is survived by three sisters, Esther Makela, Alma Zungala and Bertha Doyle, all of Fitchburg, Mass. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Robert Carlson officating [sic]. Burial was in Smith Village Cemetery.

One Hundred Formulas
George Carmichael donated a copy of Stephen A. Thayer’s “One Hundred Formulas” which was published in 1883. It contains recipes from everything from printing ink to pain killers. This one seems questionable.
WARNING: Please don’t try any of these “remedies”, many contain ingredients which have been shown to be harmful.

I'm familiar with chloroform, but I had to look up aconite: Aconite is a cardiotoxin and neurotoxin. I guess that will help with rheumatism via a trip to see St Peter.
