The apple blossoms are now in their prime. I made one study up near Lutín. The trees are so situated away from other picturesque material like the houses and roads that I have to make the composition wholly of the trees which alone are beautiful in color and form. With this it is necessary to have an interesting sky effect, and fortunate these days are full of cloud effects as the rainy spell is not over

Dull morning; fine after; wind S.E. to S. Dave ploughing at Lowes’ in morning and at Spoffords’ till noon. Afterwards at Fanny Barr’s. I swept Hall, filled lamps, etc. for Grange tonight. Got letter from Hamish. Discussion in Grange on Initiative Referendum & Recall. Ice cream party after. Closed about 11 p.m.
