January 19, 1909 (Monday)
Intense frost. +2 degrees frost 10 below. David teaming hay to W. Davis. Got pc from Hamish and letters from Cora Roger and Mary Mair. I took leaves to hen houses and filled boiler.
My father told me that once he and my mother as a young married couple went out to dinner with Mr and Mrs Phil Thayer. Not sure where this restaurant was but probably somewhere in the local area. The dinner was excellent and there was much lively discussion during it. Mr Thayer, my father’s boss, I believe, at Tricnit, was so enthused about the entire evening that he set the table napkins on fire just for fun. Don’t know if it was a candlelit dinner or not
Any possibility of commissioning a reproduction of that jug? I would definitely buy one.
