Nathaniel S. Berry for Governor (NH)
James Roger diary entry
January 30, 1909 (Saturday)
Stormy day wind N.E. to N.W. Snow showers and drifting a little. David teaming from mountain to Depot. I made out Selectmen’s accounts and went to Engine Hall with them in the afternoon. George Sargent went over the sidewalk in the afternoon. Got letter from Alice and pc from Hamish, also papers from Roslin.
Nice photos of the Thayer family. Looked like a wonderful family to be part of. Thee Free Soil Party was an anti-slavery movement that merged with the Republican Party in 1854. I assume the John Preston mentioned was from New Ipswich, ancestor to the John Preston we knew.
