James Roger diary entries
5th July 1912
Warm, dry, and dusty; wind southwest. David cutting at Frank Hardy’s in forenoon and finished orchard and part of upper fields. I fixed the brooders for the chickens, mended blind, and raked some hay in afternoon. The children picked 3 quarts of strawberries in the orchard. Sale of hay at Barretts’ today. Mr. Lord bought some; also Jim Davis’ and Knowltons’ grass. Got letter from Hamish today. Got Alice’s letter tonight.
Beautiful scene. Is there in the records documentation of old and new barns in New Ipswich? We’ve heard how some of them survived the hurricane of 1938.
I think it was Mrs. George Barrett that donated $ to the church and other groups in New Ipswich.
Interesting house and 2 barns. Have no idea who's home this was.
